Saskia Fleishman graduated Rhode Island School of Design in 2017 with a BFA in painting. During her time at RISD, she spent 5 months studying in Rome on RISD’s European Honors Program. She is originally from rural Maryland but has lived in New York City for the majority of her life and, after graduation, has moved to Brooklyn where she works and lives. She was recently a resident at Vermont Studio Center and has curated a number of exhibitions around New York City this past year. In addition to living in Brooklyn, she frequently visits Cape Elizabeth, Maine, to take a break from city life and return to nature for inspiration. Her current body of work developed through archiving my family’s collection of landscape photographs taken from 1995-2018 across North America and Europe. The works serve as a study and contemplation of time, perception, and dramatization through stylized imagery of natural phenomenas based on color theory.
