Brittany Byrd uses her fascination with the spiritual realm and anime to describe her practice of sourcing and collecting a wide range of imagery figurative and abstract both from high and low culture. She explores mediums from acrylic, mixed media and furniture. Byrd’s robust color palettes come from her love for Wes Anderson films and Dr. Seuss. Byrd likes to tell a story with each piece starting with bold brushstrokes and exuberantly painted imagery or installations she plans to eloquently creating an alternate universe with a generosity of spirit. Byrd worked on the 2017 Met Gala Installation with Rei Kawakubo while attending The New School: Parsons School of Design. Byrd has a degree in Strategic Design and Management and Technical Design and is currently completing Graduate design courses at Harvard.
